Go behind the scenes of ‘American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace’ in this brand video that was released by Entertainment Weekly

It’s easy to see from the video and the new promotional pictures why Ryan Murphy changed the order of his crime-anthology series American Crime Story, bumping up The Assassination of Gianni Versace in place of Katrina. Murphy is set to dive us into a world of glamour and tragedy with the new season that has all of the hallmarks to match the success of its predecessor, with an all star cast playing the Versace family.

First up we have the gorgeous Penelope Cruz playing the role of Donatella Versace, in a platinum blonde wig Cruz exudes glamour from head to toe. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly recently, Penelope revealed that she spoke to the fashion designer personally before taking on the role: “I did have one conversation that was between she and I, and I don’t want to say the details, but it was a long conversation.”

Darren Criss will be playing American serial killer Anthony Cunanan, who killed shot Gianni Versace at his Malibu mansion back on July 15, 1997.

On playing his first gay character, Ricky Martin revealed: “It’s a story that needs to be told. We’re going to go mainstream with a story that talks about homophobia, that talks about hate, that talks about indifference. I feel humbled. It’s so raw and honest and so dramatic and sad. But at the same time you show the love of Gianni and Antonio and 15 years of struggling, fighting. It’s something that I really wanted to be loud about.”

It has also been announced that American Horror Story’s ‘Finn Wittrock’ will be joining the Versace season playing the role of Jeff Trail, a friend of Andrew Cunanan, and also the serial killer’s first victim
