Ryan Reynolds has made the wish of a 5-year old boy with a terminal brain tumour come true. The Deadpool actor surprised young Daniel Downing, who was unfortunately diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour earlier this month, by making a very special call to the youngster.
Daniel was completely taken back by the surprise and was in awe of his hero when he first received the call.
Speaking to the Plymouth Herald, Daniel’s mum Stephanie went on to reveal: “Daniel picked up the phone and Ryan asked if he knew who he was. As soon as Daniel realised, he asked if he could FaceTime him and then he was very, very hyper.
“I’m so happy for Daniel,” she continued. “It’s something he wouldn’t normally have been able to do and he was so excited. He told all his friends and his teachers. It’s nice to see him so excited because he has been a bit down lately.”
Daniel was also treated to a tour around the Deadpool 2 set, where Ryan is currently filming in Los Angeles, as his mum, step-dad, and older brother looked on.
A JustGiving page has been set up for young Daniel to help raise funds for his palliative treatment that is required to prolong his life. The page’s creator Biffy Lynch wrote of Ryan’s call: “Thank you Mr Ryan Reynolds for putting a smile on a special boy’s face.”
